for nearly two decades, ploink has promoted techno nights around norway, presenting local talent as well as some of the biggest acts from around the world. we just really like techno. our definition of the genre is fairly wide though, constantly evolving, which we have attempted to reflect in this our first release, compiling four very different tracks by local producers from our hometown of bergen. setting up a label branch has for years been a burried, old plan. to us, techno parties, no matter how unique and brilliantly planned, have such a short lifespan, and as such it feels good to finally start releasing something that can get a life of its own, perhaps grow into something entirely different.

after der dritte raums album morgenland kicked up a lot of the same in 2013, it was only a matter of time until the right remixers for the album were found. no less than four amazing producers of todays electronic music scene were allowed to have their way with these tracks, and the results are more than fitting. this 12inch features four powerful club tracks from four outstanding remixers: swayzak, cavaan, lars wickinger and franz noiser.

contrary to their antipodean name the marsupials are not australian or for that matter new zealanders. they are in fact a collective of italian producers residing next to the active volcano of mount vesuvius in the city of naples, italy.

catalognumber 23 – what else is to say? while we are feeling the spirit of william s. burroughs blessing this very vinyl-enigma, &me went particularly mysterious ways to transcend the category - dance track - for this one. the meditation through bass had been the major discipline of some of his latest cuts, but what you will find on this a-side, one could certainly call the perfection of somnambulistic peaktime-fever. the way he is kneading the lower frequencies, how he is channeling the expansion and decay of bass must inevitably lead to some aroused moaning. good vocal-selection, for that matter! then there are those tension building synths and a staccato-frenzy in the break that might be the ultimate ecstasy-trigger of the season. * locust* on b comes in with some smoothly looped e-guitar-coolness, adding whispering hi-hats and a comparatively rich percussive architecture. but then again: rolling bass barrels like a signature and a defence breaking build up thats ensued by liberating pressure compensation in mighty breaks. two demonstrations of understated and sophisticated peaktime-emphasis, so to say. or differently put: a flawless double-a-side.

the last few years have seen chicago footwork rise to international success, and traxmans debut album - *the mind of traxman* on planet mu - played no small part in that. it showcased cornelius fergusons brilliant ability to synthesise the beat digging of classic hip hop with the high-speed abstraction of footworks house-derived beat science. the selection of tracks on this second chapter show a slightly different take on traxman s abilities. instead of bringing in concepts from other genres, he simply creates a wider variety of footwork, made with a minimal, reduced palette. often just one or two samples are selected and diced into brain-blurring cubist puzzles that bear little relation to their original sources, or anything else for that matter.

in the 70s radio stations were a powerful force across the whole of the us, and anyone with a transistor radio had access all kinds of music. live music was another matter altogether, and unless you found yourself in a major city your nights out were limited to what the local talent had to offer. this was especially so with soul and funk acts, as mainstream rock and pop was where the money was. so for small time oklahoma soul bands such as husband and wife charles and barbara burtons groups messengers inc - and later burton inc - times were tough. however, like many purveyors of soul, tough times were no match for those with determination, persistence and a story to tell. many artists scraped enough money together to make a 45 or two on their own label, but the burtons took this to another level – they got themselves organised and released their own full length lps.
